LET'S TALK LACE, SHALL WE?

LET'S TALK LACE, SHALL WE?

Swiss lace, transparent lace, HD lace..., the list goes on. Over the years, there has been a number of breakthroughs in the wig-making industry that has elevated wig wearing. Wigs have become undetectable, very versatile, and much more, and the laces have not been exempt from this evolution. Now there are so many types of lace types in the market to choose from, and as such, this can be very confusing to our clients.

In this blog post, we will be explaining the different lace types to guide you ladies in making better and more informed choices when purchasing wigs.

First let's breakdown the types of laces in the market right now:

Swiss lace: $$

This is commonly used in wig making since it is soft, see-through and more durable than HD lace but thicker than it. Extra lace blend/ lace tints needed to match lace closer to your skin tine. It is more durable and affordable than HD lace but it can still be ripped off if you stretch the lace forcefully. It is more suitable for beginner friendly and everyday wigs and does last a longer time.

HD lace: $$$

This lace is thin, soft, and very see-through so when you put it on your head, it will get very undetectable and blend very well with your skin tone. However, it is not suitable for wig beginners, because it is very thin and delicate and if not handled carefully can tear/rip.

The lace is very soft so you need to glue it down, but if you glue it down and you want to take it off and want to clean the glue, the lace will be easily torn up. HD lace wig normally is not cheap so if you want to wear it every day or you are new to wearing wigs, it is not a good choice for your budget. But for special occasions, like weddings, photoshoots or proms, you can wear it to give you a more flawless look.

Transparent lace : $$

This is made typically French or Swiss lace. Swiss lace is more commonly used for transparent lace. Transparent lace is very thin lace and ventilated, which will allow for your wigs to lay more undetectable on your skin to look like your real scalp.

Transparent lace is basically a white version of normal lace, so the lace is in white colour, or a light beige colour.  This kind of lace is more suitable for light skin tone, like Caucasians or Asians, and for the darker or brown skin tone, transparent lace will be visible so you have to tint the lace to make its colour similar to your skin tone.

WHICH ONE IS BEST FOR ME?

That is all up to you, your budget, how long you want to have your wig for and a couple other factors. HD lace is the most expensive but would give the best results, but the down side to it is that it is very fragile and can easily tear (you might need to replace the closure along the line), with the other lace types, you can work around them to find ways to get that blend with your skin, such as using the concealer/ powder method to match your lace, or using lace tints (check out our lace blend colours) to blend your lace to match your skin tone.
